“There truly are hundreds of reasons to attend the Connecting for Change conference. I would say one of my favorite reasons is the diversity. Diversity in thinking. Diversity in businesses & schools. Diversity of topics and ideas. And of course, diversity of people. People of all walks of life - classes, races, religions - coupled with the rich heritage of New Bedford, creates this type of atmosphere that ignites ideas and dives deep to the core of today's issues, addressing sustainability, health, education, empowerment, and so much more. If you truly want to be in the climate of change, and have a spark of hope for the future of humanity, then this is your conference.” - Desa Van Laarhoven, Marion Institute Executive Director.
Other highlights from the conference include live keynote speakers such as Laurie David, producer of An Inconvenient Truth and author of The Family Dinner; John Francis, known to the world as the “Planetwalker”, and author of Planetwalker: 17-Years of Silence,22-Years of Walking; and Satish Kumar, visionary and editor of Resurgencemagazine – just to name a few. A film festival, farmers market, Youth Initiatives, and Family Program will also be essential features of the conference.
All Keynote presentations will take place in the Zeiterion Theater in downtown New Bedford. Workshops and other programs will take place at various locations throughout the downtown area.
This event also gives conference-goers the opportunity to check out local sustainable businesses and organizations in the exhibitor hall, and a chance to connect with other individuals that aim to make positive changes in their communities.
