THE WEST GREENWICH LAND TRUST TO HOST 3RD ANNUAL “CELEBRATE WEST GREENWICH EVENT, OCTOBER 18TH
On Sunday, October 18th the West Greenwich Land Trust will, once again host Celebrate West Greenwich! This year’s venue will be in the field at Franklin Farm at the corner of Route3 and Congdon Mill Rd. Activities are planned from 1-5 PM, rain or shine. There will be a farmers market, live music, food, demonstrations, outdoor activities, award ceremonies and more. Stop by for a heartwarming and entertaining afternoon of community spirit. Bring your family and friends!
Pre-Event Activities:
Tillinghast Pond Bobber Hunt: Twenty-five [25] orange and white fishing bobbers have been dispersed on Tillinghast Pond located on Plain Road approximately 1/2 mile from the
intersection of Plain Meeting House Road and Plain Road. The bobbers are numbered and labeled WG Land Trust. Please remove one bobber per family and bring to the October 18th
event at Franklin Farm for the drawing of two bobber numbers to win a $25.00 gift card to Ocean State Tackle. Enjoy the trip and the views
Geo-caching Throughout West Greenwich: Geo-caching is an entertaining adventure game designed to have participants explore all of what West Greenwich has to offer. Four test tube size canisters have been hidden in two scenic locations of West Greenwich. Participants will be provided easy to follow directions and or GPS coordinates to locate and sign the sheet within each canister. The top two participants, one using directions and one using GPS, will be awarded a gift certificate to R.E.I. of $75.00 each at Franklin Farm at 4:30 PM on October 18, 2009. The directions and coordinates will be released on Friday, September 18, 2009 on our web site at www.wglandtrust.org.
Digital Photo Contest
The West Greenwich Land Trust is looking for digital photos of natural, scenic and historic areas throughout West Greenwich to be used in the Land Trust’s web site, publications, newsletters, etc. Digital photos no larger then 2 MB, 300 DPI will be accepted no later then October 2, 2009 on our web site at www.wglandtrust.org. The top three photos chosen for “The Best of West Greenwich” will be awarded 1st $75.00, 2nd $50.00 and 3rd $25.00 gift certificates to R.E.I. All photos entered will become the property of the West Greenwich Land Trust and each participant will receive credit when his or her photo is published. Digital photo awards will be showcased and honored at Franklin Farm at 4:30 PM on October 18, 2009. Three [3] photo entry limit per person.

1:00: Born to be Wild Nature Center: Learn about birds of prey in this one hour up close presentation.
1:00—3:00: Horse Drawn Wagon Rides Provided By Edgewood Farm $2.00 per rider. Enjoy a relaxing horse drawn wagon ride on the Franklin Farm while learning the history of West Greenwich from Town Administrator and lifelong resident Kevin Breene.
1:00—3:30: Family Scavenger Hunt Forms available at Land Trust Tent.
1:00—5:00: Farmers Market Local produce, meat and other favorites.
1:00—5:00: Light Food and Snacks A la-carte Pricing Prepared and served by the West Greenwich Fire Company #1 Hot Dogs Corn on the Cob, Hamburgers, French Fries, Cheese Burgers, Bottled Water, Baked Beans and Coffee
2:00 – 4:00: Watercolor Art Class Join local RISD Students in learning the basics of watercolor painting of the West Greenwich landscape.
2:00—4:00: Pony Rides for Kids Provided by Ponies to Go, Portsmouth RI. $2.00 per ride.
3:00—5:00: Music by the Breakheart Hill Boys: Enjoy this new local WG band showcasing their exciting lineup of bluegrass music.
3:00—4:00: Nature Walk with WG Land Trust founding chairman and wildlife biologist Brian Tefft.
4:30: Award Presentations for Digital Photography, Geo-Caching Challenge, Tillinghast Bobber Hunt and Scavenger Hunt.
4:30: “Leave Your Troubles Behind” Raffle Limited Edition Print by Donna Kenny Kirwin
