Rail~Volution in New England for the First Time
Interested in the role of transit and land use in fostering social justice, protecting the environment, and developing stronger communities? Come to the national Rail~Volution conference in Boston! Rail~Volution brings together policy makers, private developers, citizen advocates, urban planners, architects, community organizers, researchers, and students to share their ideas and perspectives for shaping the future of transportation and development. Participants in this year’s conference will hear from the Obama Administration on its new livability initiatives, take in inspiring talks by leading figures in urban planning and development, examine contemporary issues in symposia led by panels of experts, travel around the region to see transit-oriented development in motion, and explore real-world design challenges in hands-on workshops and case studies.Get Involved: Scholarships and Hosting Homestays
If you’re an activist, public official, or student in the New England area interested in attending the conference, but concerned about cost, the local host committee of Rail~Volution invites you to apply for a scholarship to cover partial registration costs. Those outside the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) service area may also receive a scholarship for travel. The application deadline has been extended to September 18th, 2009.
If you live in the Boston area near public transit, Rail~Volution is looking for hosts for our out-of-town attendees. As a thank-you for providing a homestay, Rail~Volution is happy to cover the FULL COST of your registration to the conference. If you’re interested, fill out the homestay portion of a scholarship form or contact us with your location and accommodations available. We’ll work to match you with a compatible guest.
Anyone who wants to apply for a scholarship OR offer a homestay should fill out the general scholarship application here. Completed forms can be submitted online, e-mailed to us, or mailed to:
Daniel Ferry, EOT, 10 Park Plaza - Suite 4150, Boston, MA 02116
Please forward this scholarship information along to anyone you know who might be interested in Rail~Volution, especially any e-mail lists for student organizations, civic associations, advocacy or activist groups, or urban-issue nonprofits.
