Northern Gardening Symposium with New England Wild Flower Society ~ Selecting the Best RANDOLPH CENTER, VT — New England Wild Flower Society is proud to announce an exciting symposium, “Northern Gardening: Selecting the Best” held Saturday, April 5th at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center, Vermont, from 9 am to 2 pm. Join the experts and learn how to "select the best" for northern climates. The Society's Executive Director Gwen Stauffer introduces the speakers. Bill Cullina, renowned native plant author and the Society's Horticultural Research Director discusses Native Ferns, Moss & Grasses: From Emerald Carpet to Amber Wave: Serene and Sensuous Plants for the Garden-his newest book and a great selection for northern gardeners. Richard Jaynes’ talk, "Outstanding Woody Plants with a Bias Toward Kalmia" focuses on these popular woody plants for northern gardeners-by the man who made made so many of these cultivars famous. Kate Kruesi, lifelong Vermont gardener discusses "Ecological Gardening: Selecting the Best for Your Site". She focuses on matching plant with place, understanding your site, and special challenges. She shares plant selection criteria for maximum four-season beauty.
