Flowers in February: Day Trip to the Botanic Garden of Smith College
Saturday, February 23, 9:00 - 5:30
Join Blithewold for a guided tour of the Botanic Garden of Smith College in picturesque Northampton, Massachusetts. The garden boasts a large conservatory filled with botanical wonders from around the world: the Cold Storage House displays material being forced for the Spring Bulb Show; the Palm House contains a waterfall and plants from Asia, Latin American, and Australia/New Zealand; and the Show House features foliar and floral scents of culinary, medicinal, and perfumery significance. In addition, The Stone House with its orchid, bromeliad and epiphyte collection, and the stunning Fern and the Succulent Houses are sure to awe us. Even during the cold months, a superb outdoor collection of 1,200 woody plants and a Japanese reflection garden - only two of their remarkable outdoor attractions - beckon the visitor. After a tour at noon, we will have time to explore both the garden and town on our own. Bus transportation is provided.
Please tell a friend - we need 30 participants to run this trip.
Registration deadline: Wednesday, February 6.
