One of the featured speakers for Bioneers by the Bay on Saturday, Oct. 20, is Bill McKibben, who has an essay in this month's National Geographic on reducing carbon emissions that provides a potential formula for slowing the damage to our climate.

Another speaker -- on Friday -- is Naomi Wolf, whose book The End of America, is on the NY Times Best Seller List for nonfiction paperbacks as of Oct. 7.

There are also multiple workshops on more local topics, so visit the conference Web site at www.connectingforchange.org for registration information. Some scholarships are available to help with registration fees.

Plus, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will be giving a free lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford to kick off the conference. And, there's a Farmer's Market and exhibits of sustainable businesses and organization that are also free and open tothe public Oct. 19-21.
