Farmers probably know this, but all gardeners may not: the most important thing about growing plants is to take care of the soil. When the soil is full of nutrients and microbes, your vegetables and flowers will thrive.
Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has a lot of short videos about soil (the original name for NRCS was the Soil Conservation Service). This week's edition is about using radishes as a cover crop -- something to plant at the end of the growing season that will restore the soil over the summer. The results of growing these long radishes surprised the scientists. Watch this 4-minute video to learn more:
