Meet the Woonasquatucket Board and Staff....
Would you like to learn more the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC)? Enjoy a special paddle plus refreshments on the Woonasquatucket River on Sunday, October 19th, 2014 beginning at 4:30 PM. Not only will you get to see Providence from a unique perspective, you will also learn more about the WRWC directly from the board and staff.
You will hear about some of our programs like our youth green jobs program, River Rangers, urban park revitalization, Fred Lippitt Woonasquatucket River Greenway and Bike Path expansion plans, Red Shed Bike Camp, Fish in the Classroom Environmental Education, Clean Day on the Greenway and much more.
This special paddle will begin at the landing on South Water Street in Providence and paddle up through Waterplace Park to near Atwells Avenue and then return to the starting point. We go right through down-town Providence on this paddle, where we have seen red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, and many other birds in this stretch of the river. The complete trip is about 4 miles.
Included in this special event, after the paddle we will head across the street to Mile & A Quarter to enjoy a drink and appetizers and chat informally about the many projects and programs of the WRWC. Who knows? Maybe our board or one of our committees might entice you. Perhaps you have a program that would benefit from partnering with the WRWC.
The cost for this special event including the paddle and refreshments at Mile & A Quarter is $45 if you would like to use one of our canoes or kayaks or $25 if you will be using your own boat.
Email or call Erik at the Watershed Council at [email protected] or (401) 481-1376 to register and for more details. Advance sign-up is required.Meet the Woonasquatucket Board and Staff
