Blackstone Park Improvement Association (BPIA) is a separate entity from the Friends of Blackstone Park and Boulevard, but these two groups collaborate closely. BPIA was formed in recent years to address issues in both the Park and the Boulevard. Their focus has been on the York Pond Reclamation Project in Blackstone Park, along the Seekonk River in Providence near the Narragansett Boat Club, as well as restoration of the Boulevard pathway enjoyed by so many residents of Providence and neighboring Pawtucket.
BPIA's annual meeting is Wednesday, May 31, 2006, 7:00 pm in the library of School One, 220 University Avenue at Cole. Bob Azar, Principal Planner in the Providence Department of Planning and Development, will speak on the Neighborhood Planning Process. This meeting is open to all members and friends. BPIA publishes an occasional newsletter. To join BPIA and be on the mailing list, send a $20 check payable to the Blackstone Park Improvement Association, Box 603171, Wayland Square, Providence, RI 02906.
