Are you looking for a unique opportunity to serve your country developing new programming for diverse communities? The Bridges 4 Learning (B4L) Collaborative is the AmeriCorps program for you!
B4L is a collaborative of four unique organizations—the Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living, Connecting for Children & Families, the Cranston Community Learning Center, and Traveling Theatre. The B4L AmeriCorps program is looking for 15 full-time members to be placed at one of the above organizational sites to create and implement a variety of afterschool enrichment classes, green school initiatives, and community events. They will deliver environmental and arts literacy enrichment programs for elementary and middle school students.
Members will become “green mentors,” working to support the “green” initiatives in Rhode Island schools, particularly in Cranston and Woonsocket. They will coordinate community and school events, including the RI Sustainable Living Festival & Clean Energy Expo. As a culminating activity, they will create and deliver an “environmental theatre” program to students. During the summer, the member will assist with camp programming. The eight members starting in June will also assist and train others in basic skills needed to weatherize and green their homes. These might include insulating, caulking, plastering, replacing sash cords, weather stripping, glazing windows, repairing faucets and installing thermostats among them.

Member requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old and a legal US resident
• Completion of at least 2 years of college preferred
• Commitment to the 1700 hours of service during 11 months
• Experience working with children & groups
• Passion for children, education, the environment, and/or the arts
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet and email
