Apeiron Institute Open House ~ February 2, 2008

Apeiron_2 Interested in checking out Apeiron's award-winning Environmental Education Center?  Join us for an Open House on Saturday, February 2nd, between 1:00-5:00 pm, with guided tours at 1:30 and 3:30 pm.  There is a suggested $5 donation for attending.  Read on for details and directions!

Designed by a team of experts in sustainable design and technologies, the house showcases more than fifty environmentally friendly systems, technologies, and products, including: passive and active solar energy systems, natural, recycled and non-toxic building materials and construction, straw-bale walls, radiant flooring, permaculture landscaping, and so forth. The Center's exhibits explain all the housing model's features, including how they differ from traditional systems, their cost-effectiveness, and their payback periods. Some of the features of the building include:

451 Hammet Road
Coventry, Rhode Island, 02816

From 95 Heading South, follow 95 South. Take Exit #10B to Route 117 West. From the first traffic light off the exit, follow Route 117 West 10.7 miles. At 2.3 miles the road makes a right and left at lights. Stay on 117 West! At 8.9 miles you'll pass the Conventry Fire Station, followed by streets Simon Templar, Whitman, and Maple Valley on your right. At 10.7 miles at the top of a hill, take a right onto Hammet Road. Go 0.8 miles and turn left at the Apeiron Institute / Camp Hamilton.

From 95 Heading North, follow 95 North to Exit 5B (Route 102 North). Follow 102 North for 6.8 miles and take a right at the light onto Route 117 East. Travel for 1.7 miles and take a left onto Hammet Road. Go 0.8 miles and turn left at the Apeiron Institute / Camp Hamilton.

From Route 6 East or West, or 295 from Boston or Warwick, take Route 6 to 295 South, or get on 295 South from 95 in Massachusetts or 146 in Rhode Island (or 295 North from Warwick). Turn right off Exit 4, Route 14, Plainfield Pike (or left from 295 North). Turn left at first stoplight onto Comstock Parkway. Turn right at first stoplight onto Route 12, Reservoir Road. Follow Route 12 for 6.3 miles to Matteson, which is near the top of a long hill on the left. (At 3.5 miles you will cross Route 116 and go over the Scituate Reservoir.) Turn left onto Matteson and continue for 1.9 miles to a fork in the road with a triangle. Stay left. Go 1 mile to a T- junction. Turn right onto Maple Valley Road (which is unmarked). Continue 0.4 miles and turn left onto Hammet Road. Apeiron is approximately 1/4 mile down on the right - first driveway, #451.

Parking is limited; please carpool if possible.
