Green Party of Rhode Island Candidates Forum ~ November 3, 2007

From The Green Party of Rhode Island:

On Saturday Nov 3 the GPRI will hold its state meeting.  It will begin at 1 PM in the Peace Dale Library Reading Room  1057 Kingstown Rd in Peace Dale.  At approximately 2:30 we shall hold the candidates forum. So far only one candidate Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza-Curry has confirmed she will join us.  KCM Curry as she is known to many Greens is a wonderful and vibrant candidate.  She is actually running for the Vice Presidential nomination but is a wonderful ambassador for the Green Party and someone you should meet.

Cynthia McKinney may be considered the leader in the race for the nomination.  I have been talking with one of her staff pretty regularly, and McKinney will be touring New England speaking out for local candidates and raising some money for her own campaign.  No fundraising is allowed at the Library, and we will adhere to that, but Cynthia knows we are having an event, and it seems to fit her schedule, traveling from New London to Worcester on that day, and there is a pretty good chance she will join us.

KCM is coming in a day early, so right now I am trying to arrange media interviews for her for Friday Nov 2.  I will be following up on that the end of the week.  If anyone has an in with the media and can help me, I can send you the press packet she sent me and the release I wrote (It is too large a file to send to this list).   If anyone wants to create an event for her or have dinner with her or something like that on Friday night, please get in touch and we can try to work it out.  My wife and I are most willing to host an event on Saturday evening after the GPRI meeting at our home in Providence for folks to meet with KCM, to talk about Green Presidential politics in more expanded fashion than we have time for at the meeting, and to do a little back room politicking about how to get the Green Presidential candidate on the radar screen in RI and make the campaign a tool for growing the party. If you think you want to join us Saturday evening Nov 3, let me know.

While I am at it, if you think you are attending the meeting on Nov 3, let me know so we can do a bit more planning.  Rest of the agenda is pretty well set, just waiting for it to be formatted by the Party co chair.  We will get it out soon, along with a second copy of the national nominating convention delegate selection process proposal to be voted on.

Oh, one last good one.  A guy representing Jesse Ventura called me today.  Jesse is tossing around the idea of running for President and said, hmm, maybe the Green Party.  But when I explained that to get the Green Party nomination one is actually going to have to campaign, the guy said, well maybe not.
