Do you know which parks, cemeteries, and arboretums in Rhode Island have labeled their trees? The Providential Gardener would like to compile a list of these special places for those of us who like to wander in a beautiful space while learning to identify trees. Please add locations via the Comments link below this posting. For starters, Swan Point Cemetery on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence has labeled many of its trees, as has its nextdoor neighbor, Riverside Cemetery just over the line along the Seekonk River in Pawtucket.
I just found out that Rhode Island College has recently labelled about 60 trees, and created a tree map of their campus. This came after they did a tree inventory of the campus, organized by Jerry Melaragno, a recently retired professor. I'm planning on checking it out some time this summer.
